Cradle boats have for centuries been a part of the maritime tradition of seafaring nations throughout the world, being built by shipwrights and sea captains for their first-born child and then passed down through the generations as family heirlooms. Introduced in 1988, our Baby Tender became an instant favorite among expectant parents, launching countless newborns on their first adventure, in more than fifty countries!
Baby Tender is my adaptation of the classic yacht tender carried aboard many of the finest yachts during the time when wooden boatbuilding was truly an art. The boat has a length of 45”, a beam of 22” and a midship depth of 8.5”. Construction is traditional lapstrake planking on bent frames, copper riveted. The davits have an overall length of 60” and a height of 47”. The wooden cross-member is secured in place with brass rods for easy disassembly and storage. The suspension is made up of davit sheaves and running blocks forming authentic tackles for raising and lowering the boat.
Plans include full-size patterns for all parts, large-scale construction drawings for all assemblies, and to clarify the building process, comprehensive construction notes describing all components are number-keyed to the corresponding assemblies in all the drawings.
Includes Baby Tender plans, patterns, instructions, and US shipping.
